Friesians ROCK!

As part of my efforts to get a law passed here in Florida banning tail docking, I do reach out to horse groups, asking for their support. This morning, I received this lovely letter from the Friesian Horse Society - http://www.friesianhorsesociety.com/Home.html

Dear Dr. Mitchell,

Thank you for contacting the Friesian Horse Society.

The Friesian Horse Society, speaking for all members, are 100% in support of your attempt to get law passed to prohibit tail docking. This is an inhumane and unnecessary procedure which has no benefit to the horse and robs them of their ability to keep flies from biting them.

Friesians are known as the "hair breed". Manes and tails are highly prized and well cared for. We drive our horses all the time and tails are easily braided if necessary to keep them from interfering. Once their activity is finished, the tails are unbraided to return them to normal use.

The FHS Board of Directors will publish your efforts and contact information in our monthly publication called the Friesian Brief which goes out to all members monthly. The Board will urge them to support your efforts.

We applaud your efforts, thank you for including us, and wish you success.

Best Wishes,

---

MaryAnne Girard Executive Secretary, FHS

Thank you...thank you...THANK YOU!!
